blackorwa What are the odds (probability score) of Safaricom share price crossing the 30 mark by December this year?
princelysid Depends on how the election goes and how some of their upcoming initiatives go. I think it's fairly strong, I'd say 0.7 chance
blackorwa They are also opening up new services in Ethiopia which is the largest market in Eastern Africa. That should push the probability higher - perhaps 0.9. But I'm cautious since new markets always bring loss within the first year.
princelysid blackorwa I'm still a bit skeptical about this new markets thing. Safaricom has a poor record when it comes to executing new things but on the other hand this is something new and not built on top of existing services. I am bullish on the company in the long run and think it'll definitely hit 30 in the next 6months
blackorwa Safaricom operationalize their innovation unit 'Safaricom Alpha'. https://techcrunch.com/2017/10/18/safaricom-launches-innovation-center-to-move-beyond-m-pesa/
princelysid With the launch of Masoko and rumored expansion of the Mpesa platform into neighbouring countries Safaricom is shrugging off boycott calls to trade at 27.70. Will it reach 30 before the year ends though? Doesn't look like it
princelysid princelysid Masoko was a bust, Safaricom Alpha too. Seems the can only do mpesa related stuff
blackorwa Finally the share price hits 30 https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Safaricom-valuation-hits-Sh1-2trn/539546-4350434-idf3ce/index.html
princelysid blackorwa Yup, it's at 31 and climbing. Seems to have broken some sort of psychological barrier. My shares are up 41% since I bought them and they still haven't announced regional expansion plans. I need to double down.
kgoldman Vodacom TZ trades at 35Kshs per share....Do you think it's overvalued or is Safaricom undervalued? Speaking on nominal share price terms Not withstanding market cap
